A Place of Mission Education and Service for Everyone

Mission Friends

Three (by September 1, 2007), Four and Five-year old boys and girls and Kindergarteners are given an early foundation in mission training. They meet in the Preschool Area of the North Campus, Wednesday, 6:30–7:30 p.m. Pam Brassart, Director.

Girls In Action ( GA’s) – Girls grades 1 - 5

Each week girls in grades 1 – 5 and their leaders take a trip to different parts of the world as they learn about missions and missionaries. The goal of GA’s is to instill a lifelong burden for praying, giving and doingmissions. As girls complete “WorldVentures”, they are recognized at an annual Recognition Service. The GA’s meet in the children’s area of the North Campus, Wednesday, 6:30–7:30 p.m. Pam Brassart, Director.

Royal Ambassadors (RA’s) – Boys grades 1 - 6

Young men study about various missionaries around the world. Beginning with their own life, they see how missions begin with them and then expand to the church, the state and on to the world. There is a mix of mission stories, Bible verses, and activities geared to help them understand the culture and needs of people around the world. At the conclusion of each year there is a Recognition Service to reward them for the work they have completed. RA’s meet on the Peace Hall of the North Campus, Wednesday, 6:30–7:30 p.m. Earl McLain, Director.

Acteens - Young ladies, grades 6 – 12

In addition to regular weekly study and prayer for missions, Acteens participate in a Missions Quest program designed to help the girls grow spiritually and to recognize each girl’s attainment in the program. Acteens meet upstairs at the Adult LIFE Group area of the North Campus, Wednesday, 5:30–6:30 p.m. Karen Pinkleton, Director.

Challengers – Young men, grades 7 - 12

The focus of Challengers is to take the mission knowledge gained in the RA program and focus on mission projects. Challengers lead out in various mission projects to develop skills of practical service for Christ. They learn about the many opportunities Southern Baptists have to be involved in missions, both career and volunteer. From leading in a church service at an Assisted Living facility to assembling playground facilities for the church and participating in local, national and international mission crusades, Challengers is a hands-on approach to learning about missions. They meet in the Aerobics Room South Campus at the Whitesburg Center, Wednesday, 5:30–6:30 p.m. Tim Lawrence, Director.
