Preschool Ministry
These
half -day classes provide early learning experiences for children who are three
and four years old. Stayday is available Monday through Friday until 1:30.
3 year olds
8:30 - 11:30 Mon - Fri Aug.-May
11:30 - 1:30 Mon-Fri Stay-day (Optional)
Classes of three year olds are designed for ten children
and one teacher. All threes must be potty trained. All teachers receive
training annually to better prepare them to guide twos and threes in age
appropriate activities.
Classroom activities foster development in language, math, large and small
muscle skills, as well as, social interaction. Skills are taught through units
about self, family, community, seasons and other topics of interest to young
preschoolers. Bible thoughts, stories, and songs are included in each unit.
Learning takes place in small group and large group experiences. Small group
learning centers include art, home living, books, puzzles, blocks, nature, music
and manipulatives. Large group experiences are included in each session. The
full day schedule gives adequate time for lunch, rest and additional outdoor
play.
4 year olds

Classes for 4 year olds are designed for 12 children with one teacher. All
teachers receive training annually to better prepare them to guide fours in age
appropriate material.
A child must learn many important skills before being taught to read and write.
The 4 year-old curriculum includes readiness activities for language, math,
large muscle, small muscle, visual and auditory development, as well as,
important personal and social skills.
These skills are taught in basic learning centers through units about self,
family, community, and the natural world. Age appropriate Bible stories, Bible
thoughts and songs are interwoven in the units that help to instill principles
for living. Field trips and classroom visitors are planned to enhance the unit
themes. The full day schedule includes additional time for lunch, rest and
afternoon play.
